On this week’s episode of The PQI Podcast we welcome Porscha Johnson, PharmD, CPGx to discuss the role of the genomics pharmacist and the importance of pharmacogenomics today. We also discuss disparities in clinical trials and genetic testing and how Dr. Johnson champions health equity and innovative patient care.
Dr. Johnson is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Howard University College of Pharmacy in Washington, DC. She furthered her training through the completion of a two-year post-doctoral clinical pharmacy fellowship in Hematology/Oncology and Critical Care at Howard University Hospital. Currently, she practices as a Medical Oncology Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Atlanta where she specializes in caring for medical oncology, hematology, and bone marrow transplant patient populations. She oversees and contributes to many hospital-wide and department initiatives and the development and delivery of educational material and presentations to all disciplines according to cutting-edge research within the field. Dr. Johnson also serves as an independent consultant for pharmacogenomics and the Lead Clinical Oncology Pharmacist for her cancer institute’s Cancer Genomics Team to ensure the exceptional care for all patients through implementation of precision medicine.
